Nutrition at Daydreams
At Daydreams Childcare Limerick we are passionate about children and healthy food. We believe that good health and good food in the early years helps to safeguard children’s well-being throughout their lives.
All fresh meals are prepared and cooked complying with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point food safety guidelines. (H.A.C.C.P) Kitchen staff are trained in HACCP & Food Allergens and updated regularly.
Our menus are designed to provide a well-balanced and nutritious diet. Menus are rotated on a two weekly basis and are displayed on the front door daily. The main meal provided includes appropriate servings of protein, starch, dairy, vegetables and iron. Food is always oven-cooked, grilled or boiled. Fried food is never provided.
All meals and snacks provided are nutritious avoiding high quantities of fat, sugar, salt, additives, preservatives and colourings. The food offered is varied, fresh, wholesome and balanced. Fresh filtered water is always available at any time to all children. Milk is also served at mealtimes.
Children will have access to healthy food if they are hungry between scheduled meals and snack times. All food served is age appropriate and accommodates children’s development and needs. Meals are consumed in an unhurried and relaxed atmosphere where children engage in conversation. Staff members encourage good eating habits and correct use of eating utensils.

Fresh White Fish in a cheese sauce with vegetables and mashed potato
Mild Chicken Curry or Beef Stroganoff with Basmati Rice
Beef Cottage Pie or Chicken Casserole with Mashed Potato
Turkey Meatballs in a Cheese Tomato sauce with Spaghetti or Cheese Tomato Chicken Pasta Bake with Sweetcorn
Milk and Water
Leek & Sweet Potato Soup & Brown bread
Fresh Natural Yogurt & a variety of fresh Fruit
Avocado mixed with Kiwi or Banana & a variety of fresh Fruit
Our fruit variety consists of, Green and Red Apples, Bananas, Pears, Kiwis, Oranges, Plums, Mangoes, Avocado, Pineapple and Melon.
Alternatives will be provided for appropriate age groups.
